It was a pleasure to be invited to the Grand Opening of Good Sammy's Clarkson Store with the CEO of Good Sammy's Kane Blackman and Board Chair Fiona Payne. Good Sammy Enterprises and the City of Wanneroo have a good partnership across multiple stores within the City, from containers for change right through to their retail stores. I look forward to building on the partnership with Good Sammy's to continue to assist them in achieving their vision, "creating employment opportunities for Western Australians with disability". It was the first time Good Sammy's had someone with lived experience do an acknowledgement of lived experience to recognise those with a disability. Good Sammy Clarkson is open! The year is flying by, but we capped off April by opening our fabulous new Clarkson store 💛 Assisting in the ribbon cutting were councillors from City of Wanneroo, guests from NDIS and the Uniting Church in Australia, Western Australia, Good Sammy Board Chair Fiona Payne, Deputy Chair Christopher Walker, Board Member Mark Weller and CEO Kane Blackman. Good Sammy Staff member and course Graduate Allana Downing spoke of her work at Good Sammy, before some serious shopping was done 🙌 Thank you all for attending and we look forward to welcoming more of you to Clarkson!

In the driver’s seat: Good Sammy Grad Kayla Kayla has been putting in the work—and it's paying off. After graduating from our HYPE (now Work Ready) and Work Skills programs last year, she’s just completed her first driving lesson through our DRIVE program, proudly supported by the Road Safety Commission. Starting with some nerves, Kayla has shown incredible determination and growth. As her mum, Leanne, shared: “She can now see a future in the independence she yearns for.” At Good Sammy, we’re all about building practical skills, confidence, and creating real pathways to independence. We are excited to share that Good Sammy Enterprises has been awarded a PEACH Grant by Alcoa. Their generous support will help us purchase vital equipment—professional photography gear, expo and trade show essentials, and a PA system— enhancing our community engagement and outreach. These resources will directly support our social enterprises, which create employment opportunities for Western Australians with disability. The PEACH (Personnel Employed at Alcoa Charity Help) Trust Fund, established in 1979 by Alcoa Pinjarra Refinery employees, continues to make a powerful impact in local communities. Funded and managed by Alcoa employees, PEACH focuses on supporting organisations that improve health and wellbeing across Western Australia. 🌟 Audit Client Spotlight: Good Sammy Enterprises 🌟 I had the pleasure of visiting one of my clients Good Sammy Enterprises Canning Vale Head Office recently. After a productive catch-up with their finance team, I toured their ongoing renovation works, funded by a generous $2.9 million grant from Lotterywest. Here are some interesting facts about Good Sammy's : ❇️ They are dedicated to creating employment opportunities for Western Australians with disabilities, with 52% of their workforce identifying as having a disability. ❇️ The renovations include new training rooms, upgraded bathrooms, and support areas to meet modern accessibility standards. ❇️ Their impact is significant, with 361 people with disabilities employed last year, marking a 32% increase from the previous year. It's inspiring to see the positive changes and the inclusive environment they are fostering. Ensuring good financial wellbeing is part of our purpose at Beyond Bank Australia. Recently, we hosted workshops for almost 100 staff at Good Sammy Enterprises to talk about good financial wellbeing. Good Sammy is a Beyond Bank partner working to create social and environmental good. With op shops across WA, Good Sammy works to keep textiles and other materials out of landfill, entering goods that can be reused into the circular economy for further use. Good Sammy’s workforce is made up of 51% of people living with a disability, creating opportunity and growth, giving many the prospect of transitioning into open employment. Each year, Beyond Bank partner Good Sammy Enterprises saves 5.2 million kilos of textiles from landfill, entering them into the circular economy for reuse. Last month, our Board and Executive Team joined Good Sammy staff to see the magic happen! Not only are they preventing unwanted materials from entering landfill, Good Sammy creates jobs for people living with a disability. Sorting through ceramics and second-hand books, the team learned the importance of donating and recycling second-hand goods, creating jobs while doing good for the planet.
