200 million containers and counting – thanks to You!
Big news, WA – together, we’ve hit a massive milestone. Since Containers for Change kicked off in 2020, Good Sammy has helped recycle a whopping 200 million containers.
That’s:
- $20 million back into the community
- 13,000 tonnes saved from landfill
- 28,500 tonnes of CO₂ emissions avoided
Not bad for a bunch of bottles and cans, right?
But here’s the best part: every time you recycle with Good Sammy, you’re doing way more than saving the planet. You’re helping us create jobs and training for people with disability – and that’s where the real magic happens.
More than just cans and bottles
Did you know each container is worth 17c? You get 10c straight back in your pocket, and the other 7c goes to the licensed refund operator. That extra bit supports Good Sammy’s work, which means your impact is doubled.
And soon, there’s even more good news coming. When wine and spirit bottles get added to Containers for Change in 2026, the ripple effect will be even bigger – more containers saved, more people supported, more change made.
Meet Nick
Behind every container is a story, and one of our favourites is Nick’s.
When Nick first joined Good Sammy, he lacked confidence and needed a lot of support to get through the day. But he kept showing up. He kept learning. And slowly, things began to change.
Fast forward to today and Nick is a superstar. He works independently, solves problems, and brings warmth, patience, and positivity to every shift. Customers remember him not just for his service, but for the kindness he shows.
Nick’s journey is proof that recycling with Good Sammy does more than protect the planet. It helps people thrive.
