Telethon

Good Sammy is delighted to be a 2023 beneficiary of Channel 7 Telethon Trust!

A generous grant from Telethon will support Good Sammy to deliver traineeships in 2023 for 15 high school students with disability.

Through our Explore Work Program, students in Years 10-12 will participate in paid work experience, training and other opportunities. Graduates of the program will receive a certified traineeship in Retail, Business Administration or Supply Chain and the opportunity of future employment.

In partnership with schools, participating students gain critical skills and confidence within a supportive social enterprise environment as a pathway to employment.

Lotterywest

Good Sammy will receive its largest Lotterywest grant on record, with $2.9 million supporting the headquarters upgrade.

The grant will enable Good Sammy to modernise its head office and recycling warehouse on Bannister Road to provide contemporary, accessible and inclusive facilities for all employees, and improved training and engagement areas for customers, students, families and visitors.

Good Sammy will fund a portion of project costs to complement the generous funding provided by Lotterywest.

Beyond Bank

Good Sammy has entered a partnership with Beyond Bank, who will play a pivotal role in supporting our Good Sammy Academy Programs.

Our Academy Programs are dedicated to equipping people with disability with confidence and independence so they can achieve employment goals.

With Beyond Bank’s generous support, we’re able to expand the reach of these programs and make a positive difference to more lives in our community.

Centurion

In December 2022, Good Sammy was pleased to announce an exciting and progressive partnership with one of Australia’s largest logistics providers, Centurion.

The partnership delivers job opportunities for Good Sammy employees with disability within Centurion’s Perth Airport Logistics Hub.

Good Sammy employees work and train alongside Centurion staff to perform critical warehousing and logistics services at the hub.

Chamber of Commerce and Industry WA

In December 2021, Good Sammy was pleased to form a partnership with the Chamber of Commerce and Industry WA (CCIWA).

This partnership was formed to provide work experience opportunities for Good Sammy employees across a range of business operation roles.

Good Sammy employees work and train alongside CCIWA staff across a range of tasks to build capacity and develop further skills on the job.

Apprenticeship Support Australia is also a party to this partnership.

Hospitality Disability Network

In September 2021, Good Sammy was pleased to announce an exciting and progressive partnership with the Hospitality Disability Network (HDN).

The partnership delivers job opportunities for Good Sammy employees with disability within WA’s Hospitality and Tourism industry.

HDN aims to make a difference through the pursuit of sustainable employment for people with disability.

Road Safety Commission

Thanks to funding from the Road Safety Commission, Good Sammy has established the DRIVE Program which aims to support Western Australians with disability in preparing to obtain their driving licence.

This program is tailored to people with intellectual disability and offers a series of Keys4Life workshops which guide participants through the process of obtaining a Learner’s Permit. With the Commission’s generous support, participants can then access practical driving lessons with qualified instructors and go on to take Practical Driving Assessments.

This initiative combines essential road safety education with practical driving experience, ensuring participants gain the skills and confidence needed to drive safely.

Woolworths

Apprenticeship Support WA

Australian Human Rights Commission

In February 2023, Good Sammy was delighted to announce a new collaboration with Woolworths and the Australian Human Rights Commission to deliver new employment opportunities for young people with intellectual disability.

Approximately 20 Good Sammy employees trained and worked across seven Woolworths stores in Perth during the 12-week pilot program. Each employee, aged 16-35 with intellectual disability, worked in roles including grocery, customer service and bakery.
