When schools make inclusion a priority, the next generation takes notice and leads the way.
We’re proud to partner with Wesley College, Perth, a school community committed to empowering young people to champion inclusion and sustainability. It’s a partnership built on genuine two-way learning.
Recently, our CEO, Kane Blackman, was invited by Wesley College’s Year 10 students to share insights into Good Sammy’s mission and the impact we’re creating across Western Australia. In return, we welcomed the school’s Year 9 Service Ambassador Leaders to Good Sammy for a firsthand look at inclusion and sustainability in action.
Together, we explored how our mission translates into real-world outcomes:
- Inclusive employment: 50% of our 850 employees identify as living with disability.
- Circular economy impact: More than 6 million kilograms of goods are kept in use every year.
- Landfill diversion: 80% of processed items are returned to the circular economy, alongside 75 million containers recycled through Containers for Change.
- Reducing emissions: More than 23,000 tonnes of CO₂ are saved annually, equivalent to planting around 920,000 trees.
- Sustainability leadership: Our commitment to achieving net zero through our Net Zero Action Plan by 2040.
What made these exchanges particularly meaningful was seeing the students’ genuine curiosity and enthusiasm for creating positive change. Wesley College recognises the power of inclusion and sustainability, and is actively nurturing young leaders who are passionate about carrying these values into the future.
