Pinjarra Uniting Church Welcomes Good Sammy
During the March long weekend, Pinjarra Uniting Church welcomed Sonia Nolan, Executive Manager Marketing, Fundraising and Partnerships from Good Sammy Enterprises, to join in the Worship Service and share updates on the work of Good Sammy. Led by Trevor Thomas, the Worship Service spoke to the congregation’s commitment to disability inclusion.
Sonia’s presentation reignited warm memories of Good Sammy’s history and the deep connection to the organisation felt by many in the congregation. Alongside these memories, they were impressed to hear of the diverse work of Good Sammy to fulfil its mission of disability employment and the many social enterprise streams and circular economy commitment now part of its offering.

At Good Sammy Enterprises, our mission to create employment opportunities for people with disability began in 1958 when Reverend Ralph Sutton responded to Bernice Moorhouse’s request for a job. Inspired by her determination, Reverend Sutton, the leader of the Wesley Mission in Western Australia, mobilised his parish to donate unwanted clothing, creating a role for Ms Moorhouse where her hearing impairment was no barrier.
Good Sammy Enterprises remains an agency of the Uniting Church and from that small room at the Wesley Mission, we now provide employment to hundreds of people across Western Australia.
