A holiday reminder: donate during opening hours only
We love a Christmas clean out.
And we’re genuinely grateful for every donation you choose to give to Good Sammy.
As the festive season rolls in, donations ramp up fast. That support helps keep our stores stocked and supports jobs for people with disability. It really matters.
There’s one thing we need your help with over the Christmas and New Year public holidays: please only donate when our stores are open.
Our Christmas Eve hours and public holidays
- All Good Sammy stores close at 2pm on Christmas Eve, Wednesday 24 December.
- We close on public holidays only and reopen as usual on our next standard trading day.
Why leaving donations after hours is a problem
When donations are left unattended outside our stores, they can’t be protected.
Items can be damaged by weather. Some are taken.
When donations are left outside, people may go through them. Items can be damaged, taken, or left in a condition that can’t be safely sorted.
That creates two big problems:
1) Your donation may not be usable anymore
What started as a valued donation can end up ruined and unable to be sold or reused.
2) It can be unsafe for our team to sort
When donations are left outside, we sometimes find hazards mixed in like sharp items or other contaminated materials. That’s not safe for our team to handle.
When donations can’t be safely sorted or sold, they often need to be sent to landfill. That disposal costs our charity money and it’s a loss for everyone, including your donation.
The best way to donate this Christmas
If our store is closed, please hold onto your donations and bring them back when we’re open.
Donating during opening hours means:
- Your items go straight into our yellow donation hub
- Our team can sort them safely
- Your donation has the best chance to be reused and loved again
Thank you for supporting Good Sammy
Your donations are valued. Your care makes a difference.
By waiting until our stores are open, you’re helping protect our team and helping your donation do what it’s meant to do.
Thank you for thinking of us this Christmas.
