Celebrating the leadership of Board member Chris Walker
Good Sammy is proud to acknowledge and celebrate the outstanding contribution of Chris Walker, who has concluded ten years of dedicated service on the Good Sammy Enterprises Board. His leadership, wisdom, and unwavering commitment have left a lasting and meaningful legacy on our organisation.
Reflecting on his tenure, Chris shared that it had been a privilege to help steward the organisation through a period of profound change and transformation. Over those ten years, he guided Good Sammy through significant global events, including COVID, as well as the evolution of the NDIS and major shifts in disability employment policy in Australia.
Chris spoke with deep pride about his time on the Board. Drawing from his professional career as an engineer, he acknowledged that the complexity and purpose-driven nature of the not-for-profit sector far surpassed the challenges of the corporate world. He extended his sincere admiration of the work of the not-for-profit sector who tirelessly respond to highly complex demands while keeping vulnerable members of society safe and empowered, and strengthening communities.
Good Sammy Enterprises’ Board Chair, Fiona Payne, paid warm tribute to Chris, recognising not only his care and unwavering commitment, but also the steadfast support of his wife Judy, who has been a familiar and friendly presence at events throughout the years.
Fiona also acknowledged the profound impact Chris has had on the organisation, noting that his rich professional and life experience brought invaluable wisdom to the Board.
Chris has made a significant contribution to the Good Sammy Board over the last decade through his professional and life experiences. His support for our Uniting Church in Australia affiliation has been especially beneficial. Chris has provided a unique generational perspective which is valuable and appreciated. We will miss his wise counsel and thank him for his unwavering commitment to our mission.”
