Good Sammy will host three free disability awareness training sessions for City of Kwinana residents, employers and community groups.
As part of a community grant from the City of Kwinana, Good Sammy will deliver sessions focussing on disability employment, inclusion and accessibility.
Good Sammy Chief Executive Officer Kane Blackman said the City of Kwinana’s funding support would help raise awareness of disability within the local community.
“There is an invisibility to disability, and these sessions will improve individual and business understanding to enhance the inclusiveness of local social and economic activities,” Mr Blackman said.
Kwinana locals will also be able to spot Good Sammy at two of the City’s upcoming community events. Good Sammy will have market stalls at the Summer Sounds concert at Centennial Park in Bertram on Saturday 18 February and the Alcoa Children’s Festival at Calista Oval on Saturday 11 March. Good Sammy employees and volunteers will be collecting recyclable 10c containers at these events to help raise funds for the organisation through the Containers for Change program.
Mr Blackman said Good Sammy proudly operates more than 20 Containers for Change refund points across Perth, including at our Op Shop on Meares Avenue, Kwinana.
“In addition to eligible 10c containers from these community events being recycled and saved from landfill, all monies raised by Good Sammy will be channelled into helping us continue to deliver our mission of providing employment opportunities, pathways and training for Western Australians with disability.”
