Are you a school leaver?

If you are in your final year of high school, you may be eligible for the NDIS School Leaver Employment Support (SLES) program.

Good Sammy offers the SLES support program, providing early intervention for participants in their last year of high school by building skills and confidence and supporting the transition from school to employment.

SLES funding supports access to our Ready for Work, Ready for Life program. Our one-on-one mentors offer support as you identify your career goals and develop individualised programs to help you get ready for work for up to two years after finishing year 12.

School Transition to Employment Program (STEP)

More than 300 students living with disability have been able to gain valuable work skills in supportive environment through the STEP program in a partnership with WA high schools and Good Sammy Options. Through Good Sammy Options, participants in the STEP who are in years 10-13 program are offered work experience in the following areas:

  • Good Sammy’s Retail stores (Perth and Regional)
  • Recycling Plant in Canning Vale
  • Administration in Canning Vale,
  • Hospitality in Canning Vale (Canteen), and
  • through our online store.

STEP aims to provide a smooth transition to open employment, supported paid employment or School-Based Traineeships within Good Sammy.

If you would like to get involved in the STEP program, get in touch with Good Sammy Options today.

Students participating in the STEP program may be eligible to gain a recognised Australian qualification through Good Sammy’s School-Based Traineeships.

Good Sammy partners with Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) to place participants one day per week for the duration of the 12-18-month traineeship.

The traineeships and STEP program provide a firm foundation for participants as the skills and qualifications they develop offer access to further programs as they progress towards mainstream employment.

Good Sammy offers the following School-Based Traineeships:

  • SIR20212 – Certificate II in Retail Services
  • TL121616 – Certificate II in Warehousing Operations
  • BSB20115 – Certificate II in Business
